Seamless, Multi-Tool Research Workflows with Rival’s Mid-Chat Redirect

Modern research workflows often require more than one tool. For example, you might use a customer insights platform to do most of your quant and qual work, but may want a more specialized tool to run a conjoint analysis.

Having different insight platforms in your tech stack gives you more flexibility and robust data, but what's the impact on research participants? Forcing respondents to bounce between systems usually leads to frustration, confusion.... and, more often than not, survey drop-offs.

Juggling multiple market research platforms shouldn't mean sacrificing engagement or clean data.

Introducing Rival's Mid-Chat Redirects

Today, we’re excited to announce the release of a powerful new feature: Mid-Chat Redirects.

Part of Rival's evolving capabilities, this release enhances how researchers can build integrated workflows. It taps into the tools you need without sacrificing the conversational experience as respondents love.

As its name suggests, the Mid-Chat Redirect feature lets you redirect respondents to an external application—like a concept test, conjoint survey, or qual tool—right in the middle of a Rival conversational survey. After participants complete the task, the external application redirects them back to the Rival survey.

When they return, they pick up exactly where they left off—with no data lost and no engagement drop.

This works seamlessly both from your perspective as a researcher and from your participants' experience. No clunky workarounds required.

Mid-Chat Redirect reduces survey drop-offs, improves the participant experience, and gives you more robust data by:

  • Keeping your chat flows smooth and uninterrupted
  • Supporting secure data transfer between Rival and external platforms
  • Allowing advanced use cases (like interactive concept testing, external qual tools, or conjoint studies) without breaking the respondent journey

Whether you’re using Qualzy, an external survey platform, or a custom tool, you can now bring it into your workflow—seamlessly.

Common use cases

With Mid-Chat Redirects, you can bring your full research toolkit into the Rival platform. Some use cases include:

  • Sending participants to an external conjoint study mid-chat, then letting them continue the follow-up seamlessly.
  • Launching an interactive concept test hosted on a different platform, then returning respondents to the Rival chat for post-task questions.
  • Integrating with qual tools like Qualzy to capture deeper insights without losing flow.

This makes it easy for you to integrate the Rival platform into both traditional and next-gen research methodologies.

The results:

  • Higher completion rates: eliminate drop-offs during task switching
  • Flexible workflows: use the tools you need, when you need them
  • Better data: connect experiences to capture more complete feedback
  • Operational efficiency: capture quant, qual and video feedback—and integrate other research methodologies—in one fluid conversation
